Kirkland® Minoxidil Europe
Kirkland Signature® Minoxidil 5%: an in-depth review
Last reviewed:
Kirkland Signature® is Costco®'s private label. Its Extra Strength minoxidil 5% topical solution for men became popular because it offered a generic version of a well-known treatment at a low US price. Here is what Europeans should know before trying to buy it.
What is Kirkland Signature® minoxidil?
It is a topical solution containing 5% minoxidil, intended for men with hereditary hair thinning on the top (vertex) of the scalp. It is typically sold in packs of six 60 ml bottles, a six-month supply when used as directed: 1 ml twice a day.
A 5% foam version also exists in the US. There is no Kirkland® women's formula.
Ingredients
Besides 5% minoxidil, the liquid contains alcohol, propylene glycol and purified water. Alcohol helps the solution dry quickly, while propylene glycol helps minoxidil dissolve and penetrate. Propylene glycol is also the ingredient most often associated with scalp itching and flaking in sensitive users.
Can you buy Kirkland® minoxidil in Europe?
Kirkland® minoxidil is not officially distributed in the EU, the UK or Switzerland. People who buy it usually order from third-party resellers or marketplaces, which can mean long shipping times, customs fees, import restrictions on medicines, English-only US labelling and uncertainty about storage conditions and authenticity.
In many European countries minoxidil is regulated as a medicine, so buying from an official, traceable seller matters.
If you want the same 5% strength with European delivery and support in your language, FOLIGAIN® has official stores in most European countries.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Proven 5% minoxidil strength | Not officially sold in Europe |
| Low price in US Costco® stores | Imported price often much higher after shipping and fees |
| Simple formula | Contains propylene glycol, can irritate sensitive scalps |
| No women's version, no low-alcohol version |
Verdict
Kirkland® minoxidil is a solid generic in the United States. For European buyers, the practical drawbacks of importing usually outweigh the savings. A European-available 5% minoxidil such as FOLIGAIN® gives you the same active strength with easier access and more formula choices.
